AGM Agenda
As mentioned in recent newsletters, the club AGM will be on the evening of Tuesday 24th January 2017 from 7.30 at the clubhouse.

For this year’s resolutions, the Committee is currently considering facility improvement options for 2017 and 2018. These include more floodlights (this may mean replacing one grass court with an all-weather court), padel tennis courts, improving court 14 and re-surfacing of other courts with carpet / clay. We intend to ask members to vote at the AGM on a number of priority proposals for 2017 that will cost over £25,000. These priority investments will require member approval per Rule 37 of the club's rules.

Further information on these proposals and planned future developments will be made available by Tuesday 10th January at the club and via the website for members to peruse before the AGM.

Agenda as follows:
1. Presentation of a report, balance sheet, and statement of account for the preceding financial year;
2. Election of the Committee and appointment of an honorary auditor for the next year;
3. Election of Club President;
4. Decisions on any resolutions which may be submitted (see examples above);
5. Any other business.

Please come along, get involved and exercise your prerogative as a member of the club.
See you there!
Lost Bracelet
Has anybody found my bracelet? The last time I remember wearing it was for a beginners' session on the hard courts. It is a fine pink bracelet and of sentimental value.
If someone found it, they may think it is worthless and not worth handing in, but it is of sentimental value to me and therefore I would love to find it.
If you have seen it, please get in touch with me (Anna) wittekindanna@gmail.com
Thanks
Neil's Note
Hi all,

My last Neil's Note of the year is a thank you and a request... Thank you to all the wonderful members who gave freely of their time in 2016 to support our (pretty large) tennis club! It is much appreciated by me and the Committee (and the Committee give a lot of their time too so thanks to my team!). At the AGM on 24th January I will name and applaud our volunteers and formally thank them.

Which brings me to the request... At the AGM we will have the usual update for members on our finances, team reports and resolutions members may propose. I will also update members on progress made on the 2020 Business Plan and the investments we are considering in improving the club's playing facilities. We will be asking members who attend the AGM to vote on some investments for 2017 that are well over £25k. More information will be provided in the new year. Please come along and have your say and vote on how we spend our collective club money!

Happy Christmas and happy holidays to all,

Neil
Ladies' Wednesdays
Wednesday tennis ladies enjoyed 2 hours of good tennis last week followed by festive fare in the clubhouse kindly organised by Amanda. A great time was had by all. See photos! http://www.gmltc.com/gallery/3955-ladies_wednesdays

If you would like to join us in the new year, please contact Debbie on 01494 864745 or debbie_robertson@talktalk.net. We're a friendly lot and would love to welcome you on Wednesday mornings. We start off at 10am and switch around every 1/2 hour, so if you can't make it at 10.00, come at 10.30 or 11.00
Men's (+) Weekday Tennis Christmas Bash
Following Men's (with the occasional lady) Friday morning tennis, a protracted and festive lunchtime took place in our clubhouse. The main event was a delicious Christmas lunch, served for some 30 ladies and gents who play morning tennis throughout the year. Guess who cooked it? Of course. Jill'n'Kate. Brilliant, well done and Thank You both.
This was preceded by a tasty appetiser of Keith's now almost legendary wine tasting (thank you Keith) and followed by a scrummy dessert - equally legendary carol singing led by Ronnie on keyboard and Keith (the Other One) on guitar.
What a great afternoon!

Christmas Hat Tourney
Christmas is coming
The goose is getting fat
So all the tennis players
Wore a Santa hat.

Serving fast and furious
Dashing all about
They played some 4 round robins
To see who had most clout

A final then to find the winners
Who was it to be?

Many thanks to Ross for organising!

Sunday Fun
Sunday Fun Tennis - Final Opportunity To Join In

We have had requests to organise Sunday Fun Tennis so it is back on and we aim to restart in January. Sunday Fun Tennis is a league within GMLTC played for some fun and exercise over two hours on Sunday afternoons between January and Easter 2017. We already have enough players for 3 teams but feel there are more of you out there who would enjoy it.

Each Sunday two teams of six comprising a Lady 1, 2, 3 and Man 1, 2, 3 will play a round-robin of short, 20 minute, sets. There is "sudden death" at Deuce to keep the games ticking over. Your team partner is changed for each set but you always play against the same level Lady or Man in the opposing team. The number of games won by each team is recorded and at the end of the league a winning team is announced.

If we have numbers for six teams then you would play every 3rd Sunday. People often play more frequently as substituting at the same level (e.g Lady 2 for Lady 2) is allowed! Sign up is via the Doodle poll below indicating whether you are Lady / Man 1 (good standard ~ club 2nd / 3rd team level), Man / Lady 2 (bit of a player, can rally ok), 3 (rusty racket to beginner). You will then be allocated to a team and given dates for your matches.

You can sign up at the following Doodle Link: http://doodle.com/poll/fhv9rfwgdu7idnbv It's really easy to do and can be done via a PC, Apple or Smartphone. If Doodle is beyond your ken, please email davidhowells.uk@gmail.com

Please do sign up. It is a great way to keep your tennis going throughout the Winter and a good opportunity to meet lots of other club members who play at a variety of levels.
Wimbledon Opt-in
Thanks to 165 members who have ticked the opt-in box already. This means that there are still a few over 300 still to do so! This includes all playing members over 9 years old so parents of juniors can help to boost the numbers by opting in the offspring. Thank you.

Come and join us!

Contact us today if you are interested in joining our beautiful club.
