SGM Outcome
SGM - Scenario D

The Special General Meeting (SGM) was held on February 23rd following the discussion on court development priorities at the January AGM. The Resolution to support and fund "Scenario D" was unanimously approved by those attending and by proxy votes. The background information on the SGM and the presentation on Scenario D can be viewed at this web page: https://gmltc.clubbuzz.co.uk/members/sgm_february_23rd_2017_

The scope of the scheme is to re-build and add an artificial clay surface to Court 14 (the single floodlit tarmac court), add floodlights and an artificial clay surface to Court 8 (the first acrylic hard court alongside the block of three tarmac courts) and convert the top two tarmac courts, 17 and 18, to acrylic hard courts. The project will take approximately three years and £180k of investment. It is dependent on increasing our total income through growth in membership income and other sources of income such as clubhouse rental and social events. We are now getting on with the first component which is to rebuild Court 14. This should be done within the six months. We will also commence the planning permission process for floodlighting on Court 8.
Membership Renewals
It is renewal time again! Every member will receive in the post or by hand a renewal pack over the next few days. This includes a letter from the Committee on what we have achieved in the last year and what is planned this year. The letter also includes details of all membership categories prices for the new season starting April 1st. The pack has an invoice for renewing your membership, the Adult and / or Junior Club Closed Competition entry form and information on Challenge Tennis coaching.

All membership fees are due by April 1st with a grace period to April 30th. Adult fees are discounted if you pay in March - details of the discount for applicable adult categories are in the renewal letter. In line with members' wishes expressed at the AGM, and after a number of years with no increase, adult fees have increased by between £4 and £8 per person. Junior fees and Social / Non-Playing membership fees have not increased. Per the club rules it is "no pay, no play" so if you have not paid by April 30th, you will not be able to access Challenge Tennis or other membership discounts at local businesses!

We have used the home address we have on file for your renewal pack. If you have moved in the last year and have not informed us of your new address your package may go AWOL! Please keep us updated of your contact details by emailing Mary at membership@gmltc.com. If you have any questions on the renewal or need to change the membership category then please also email Mary at membership@gmltc.com.

We hope everyone will renew and look forward to seeing you all on court!

PS: don't forget the key dates...
March: pay adult membership fees this month to get the early payment discount
April 1st: membership fees due
April 30th: all membership fees due by this date
May 12th: closing date for the Adult Club Closed Competition entry (forms to Andy Fyfe) and Junior Club Closed Competition (forms to Ross Helmsley)

Neil's Note
Hi all, spring is around the corner and I am looking forward to the new season. Hopefully I will get to play having been out of action since May! The recent AGM and SGM have given the Committee a clear direction for how we will develop the club's playing facilities and approval to invest a significant amount of money over the next three years. I am grateful to the club stalwarts who attended and voted and I am excited by getting Scenario D delivered. I do need your help in getting it done. We need to retain your membership and add new ones to deliver on our Business Plan financial targets so that we can afford the facility investment. You can help by renewing your membership this month and refer your friends, children's friends, neighbours, family members, in fact anyone you know or meet who lives within say 5 miles of the club! We have a great club and are achieving great things on court and off and welcome everyone. Oh, and if anyone has a spare £50k they want to donate to the club to accelerate and de-risk delivery of the court developments then that will also be very gratefully received (and we will give you a plaque on a court)!

Happy hitting! Neil
Club Secretary
We are looking for a volunteer to act as our new Club Secretary. Stuart Jones did a great job last year, but unfortunately, due to injury, is not rejoining the club this year, so now we need to find his successor.
A really big thank you to Stuart for being Secretary for the committee, and we hope you recover from you injury asap and we look forward to seeing you back at the club.

If anyone would be interested in helping the club in this role, please contact Neil.
Adult and Junior Club Closed Competitions
The Adult and Junior club closed competition entries are now open! We hope that many adult and junior members will take part. Entry forms were included in the Membership Renewal Packs that will be delivered to your home address over the next few days. The Entry Forms can also be downloaded from the Members' Area here: https://gmltc.clubbuzz.co.uk/members/club_closed_competition_entry_forms_

The closing date for the Adult and Junior draws is Friday 12th May. Finals Day for both competitions is Saturday 16th September. Andy Fyfe is organising the adult competition and Ross Helmsley is organising the junior competition. Thanks to both Andy and Ross!
Bucks Vets Champs!
Just to confirm that we had a fantastic winter season and are Bucks Vets Div 1 Champions for the first time ever (in my memory at least!!).

Thank you so much for all your availability, your endurance in some challenging matches and conditions, and to Roger for his very last minute fill in at Bull Lane and even better to have won a set.

Let’s hope we can have the same result next year.

Looking forward to some summer tennis soon!!

Rowan
Lost Tennis Racket
Plea for Dave’s lost racket.
It is a Head Radical with orange frame and black grip, and looks something like this.
Last seen at the Christmas friendly tournament. If someone has inadvertently picked it up and is wondering where it came from could they return it to Dave Wingfield please.

Once again, we are looking for part time bar staff from March onwards for club nights and functions.
Must be 18 or over.
No experience necessary

Please call Diane on 07900413285 or email wbc@wingfieldbuilding.co.uk if interested.
