Watch out - there 's a slip about!
At this time of year moss has a habit of infesting our tarmac courts. When it is frosty the moss becomes particularly slippery. If there is a visible frost the tarmac courts should not be used. The middle three tarmacs (11, 12, 13) were pressure washed last year and have very little moss on them now. What is there will be treated with moss killer by Craig and Colin in the near future. Courts 14 and 18 were pressure washed last week so are now moss free. Courts 16 and 17 will be pressure washed this coming week. Please watch out for ice on the tarmacs and please don't take a risk and play if they are slippery!

Our AGM will be held on Tuesday 24th January 2017 at 7.30pm at the club house.

As per the Club Rules (available in the ‘Where can I find info on …?’ section of the Members’ area of the website), the agenda will cover the club’s finances, election of committee members, the appointment of an honorary auditor, any resolutions submitted and any other business that might be raised.
The Committee will, for example, be asking eligible members* to vote on planned club infrastructure / facilities spend for 2017.

To help us finalise the agenda, please let Stuart Jones know of any resolutions or other items you might want to be raised or addressed by Saturday 14th January at the latest. You can email Stuart at stuart@jonescasa.com.

The formal meeting notice and agenda will be published on the website just before Christmas, and will be in next week's Newsletter, as well as up in the clubhouse.

Sunday Fun Tennis is Returning to GMLTC
We have had requests to organise Sunday Fun Tennis so it is back on and we aim to restart in January hence this email to encourage the widest possible participation. Sunday Fun Tennis is a league within GMLTC played for some fun and exercise over two hours on Sunday afternoons between January and Easter 2017.

Each Sunday two teams of six comprising a Lady 1, 2, 3 and Man 1, 2, 3 will play a round-robin of short, 20 minute, sets. There is "sudden death" at Deuce to keep the games ticking over. Your team partner is changed for each set but you always play against the same level Lady or Man in the opposing team. The number of games won by each team is recorded and at the end of the league a winning team is announced.

If we have numbers for six teams then you would play every 3rd Sunday. People often play more frequently as substituting at the same level (e.g Lady 2 for Lady 2) is allowed! Sign up is via the Doodle poll below indicating whether you are Lady / Man 1 (good standard ~ club 2nd / 3rd team level), Man / Lady 2 (bit of a player, can rally ok), 3 (rusty racket to beginner). You will then be allocated to a team and given dates for your matches.

You can sign up at the following Doodle Link: http://doodle.com/poll/fhv9rfwgdu7idnbv

It's really easy to do and can be done via a PC, Apple or Smartphone.

Please do sign up. It is a great way to keep your tennis going throughout the Winter and a good opportunity to meet lots of other club members who play at a variety of levels.

Happy hitting, Neil

Our Table Tennis League
Table tennis has been played since the late 1800s. This year following a wet men's night, I suggested that Great Missenden Tennis Club enter a team into the Chiltern league. Happily, enough people took up the offer and we have played a number of games. While not league leaders, more like the 'strong' of the league, we are improving. Our team of Anne Chaplin, Morna Johnson, Nick George, Peter Biles and James Walters are all playing against teams with players who have been playing for many years. So it is not surprising winning is hard, but the matches are getting closer and everybody has won at least one game, very good for beginners.
Table tennis is an enjoyable, fast game, that tests your reactions and hand and eye co-ordination. Although we are just over half way through the season, if anybody wants to join us for the second half, you would be MOST welcome! Please do get in touch with Richard Higham- highamrt@icloud.com
You will have to register and become a member of the ETTA but other than that, it is just about having fun.

Come and join us!

Contact us today if you are interested in joining our beautiful club.
