Courts 17 &18 Ready for Play
Lovely new court surfaces in beautiful, quiet, secluded part of the club!
The development of the two tarmac courts, 17 & 18, at the top of the club to acrylic hard court has now been completed. They are ready for play! Somewhat interesting shade of deep blue (no mention of purple please...) but they look spick and span and need using. Two of our new puddle sweepers will be put up there for removing surface water after rain. You may find that as the new surface has sand in it is a bit grippy to begin with and may be ok for play if damp. Take care not to slip though if too wet! Many thanks to Andy Rasmussen for overseeing the works.
England World Cup Matches at GMLTC!
The England pool matches (and thereafter...??) will be on the telly in the clubhouse with the bar open and nosh provided. Red Ball Tourney Report
Thank you to everyone who supported the tournament last weekend. To the club, all the players, helpers, supporters and those who donated money and cakes – a big well done! We’ve raised over £500 for Christian Aid.

Congratulations to team Serena who just beat team Roger by 160 games to 156. Red balls (orange and green too) weren’t to everyone’s liking but there were some great rallies and good tennis fun.

Special thanks to Vivian and Gerald Bailey for a great idea and all their hard work.
War on Weeds!
Many thanks to the 15 club volunteers who spent time this week waging war on the weeds that were over-running some of the court edges and paths. The Weed Warriers were Marie White, John Ramsbottom, Jane Blues, Alan Green, Chas Le Marchant, Nick Lee, Mary Lee (and granddaughter Cleo!), Emma Harris, Stephen Peake, Bryan Allsop, Vic Brown, Nevil Coulson, Stephen Davies, Rob Merrick, Joan Craig and Cate Walls. Much appreciated by all members and well led by Generals Marie and John!
Colin and Craig have their hours full keeping the courts maintained, grass areas cut, hedges trimmed etc.so if you see a weed / tuft of grass in a pavement or around a court please volunteer yourself to pull it out! It helps keep the club looking great for everyone and maintain our claim to be the most beautiful club in Buckinghamshire.
Visitor Playing Fees - All Members Please Note
A quick reminder to all members about the club's rules on playing visitors. Rule 28 states: "Any single member may only sign in a maximum of three visitors to play tennis at any one time and a visitor may only be entitled to be signed in to play tennis a maximum of 3 times in any given year by any member". For ease we do not currently require members to sign in any playing visitors in a visitor book but we do expect the visitor fee to be paid! There are no "three free visits" per member!

Visitor’s fees for playing tennis are currently £2.00 for juniors and £5.00 for adults. Please use the envelopes outside the main clubhouse door which should be deposited in the green letterbox by the door with your name and your visitors name on the envelope. We ask for every members’ cooperation in this. Occasionally we may run "bring a friend" Junior Night or other adult event to help with membership recruitment. In these cases visitor fees do not apply. We are also very happy to credit visitor fees against a new membership for prospective members who come down to try us out!
Neil's Note Erratum
Eagle-eyed members may have spotted the adding up blooper in Neil's Note in the last Newsletter. While I could say that it was deliberate to see who reads the fine print of N'sN, the fact is my brain and typing were not in synch! £97k membership income forecast for the financial year end in September plus £25k "other" income does not add up to £135k! That was the plan number. It does add up to £122k! I am hoping the Editor does not rename Neil's Note to Numpty's Note...
Need Tennis Shoes?
One of our members has very kindly donated 2 pairs of size 11 Babolat tennis shoes for men - one pair are suitable for all courts & the other pair are for clay - they are brand new & still in their boxes All monies going to club funds - to try them on, contact Jill on 07900631777 or email info@gmltc.com
TNT
Tuesday Night Tennis (TNT) continues to be very popular - not only are there still plenty of courts available to join in but it is also a great opportunity to meet other members for a drink in the bar or even stay on for a meal afterwards, carefully prepared by Howard, our 'Resident Chef'.
However this last Tuesday, Stuart Eveleigh stood in for Howard and prepared a South African Braai. Thank you Stuart for doing a great job....your pop-up bbq was a great success. Next week Howard is back and ......a Bobotie will be back on the menu! Non players are too very welcome to join for a drink and some food!

Come and join us!

Contact us today if you are interested in joining our beautiful club.
