More Floodlights!
Floodlights Are Coming On Court 8!

Good news - we have decided to accelerate the implementation of floodlights on court 8. The work should be complete before Christmas and will give us 6 floodlit courts to use this winter. This investment, along with a new all weather surface, was planned for the spring / summer of 2019 as part of "Scenario D" in our 2020 Business Plan. We can afford to fund Court 8 floodlights in this coming financial year along with the planned conversion of Court 17 and 18 to acrylic hard court. The all weather re-surfacing for Court 8 is too expensive to also do in the coming financial year so that will stay as planned for the spring / summer of 2019.

So far we have 47 members who have registered with ClubSpark to book floodlit courts. Email Neil at neil1miller@aol.com if you wish to be register to book floodlit courts online or via the app.
Recyclaball Bins
There are now 2 Recycaball ball drops - one is a box inside the club, near the front door and the second is the elegant black dustbin at the corner of the grass court on the way in from the car park. Please drop any old balls in either of these. Thanks
Mixed Night Continues
We are planning to continue adult mixed night throughout the Winter. We have a floodlight allocation of Courts 14 and 15 from 1800-2000 on Thursdays. Just roll-up and mix in. If you’d like to be included on the WhatsApp group please text David H on 07808947576.
Mini Tennis Balls2Borrow
Buckets of Mini Red (U8), Mini Orange (8 - 9's) and Mini Green (10+) have been put in the top clubhouse for members to borrow for hits with their minis. Please don't use the coaches' supply in the brown storage bins! Please return the bucket to the top clubhouse when you have finished so they are available for the next mini. The code for the top clubhouse key lock box is 0347. Please lock the door when you have finished and return the key to the lock box.
Neil's Note
Hi all,
Autumn arrives but tennis continues through the winter at GMLTC... we are a hardy bunch so don't hibernate until the spring! There are plenty of opportunities to play with singles on Saturday mornings (and a ladder, and CT coaching available), mixed on Thursday evenings, Ladies Night on Mondays and Men's Night on Tuesdays with Junior Night on Fridays continuing as long as there is demand. Contact me if you need info on any of these playing opportunities.

The Committee reviewed our draft end of financial year (September) numbers at our last meeting. It looks like we will be ahead of plan on all metrics with membership at 562, income of £127k, costs and reserve allocations of £105k and hence a cash surplus of £22k to add to our investment pot. Being ahead of plan has allowed us to accelerate the implementation of floodlights on Court 8 as detailed above in this newsletter. We will publish the formal accounts for the 2016 - 2017 financial year for the AGM in January once they have been independently reviewed. Many thanks to Mary Bartlett for doing a fantastic job as Treasurer over the last few year, managing our cash flow and protecting the pennies, shillings and pounds for the members. She is stepping down from the Treasurer role to focus on being Membership Secretary (knees willing!) and will hand over the Treasurer role to Jason Kwan.

Congratulations to GMLTC Junior member Cleo Cartledge who has joined the Bucks County U7's training squad. Well done Cleo! She joins our other GMLTC Junior members who have recently been in County teams; Tegan Stockdale (U9 but unfortunately currently injured, get well soon Tegan!), Caia Stockdale (U12), Nick Blagg (U14), Natalie Bell (U14) and Poppy King (U18's).

I have updated the member discount available at the Nags Head Inn on our web site page that details the benefits available from local businesses http://www.gmltc.com/gmltc_member_discounts_at_local_businesses_ . The Nags Head Inn offers 10% discount off the total bill for GMLTC members and one guest (Mondays to Thursdays, bring your GMLTC card with you). If you have two or three GMLTC members in your party then each can bring a guest and get the 10% discount. Please do support our local business partners so that they want to continue to support the club and offer our members discounts.

Finally, the Committee gave Craig and Colin a "thank you" gift voucher for doing such a good job on the grass courts this summer. They are now working on getting them in shape for next summer. Well done and thanks chaps!

Happy hitting, Neil
