Junior Open Tournament
Our annual LTA Junior Open Tournament starts on Sunday 30th July at 9am with the U9 Mini-Orange event and ends with Finals on Saturday 5th August.

Scorers are needed for Finals Day, with lunch provided as a Thank You! For more details email or phone Jill - jillstiel@gmail.com / 01494 890618
This is a fun job which makes the kids feel as if they're in a Final.

Play is expected to finish around 6pm each day with some adult matches going on beyond this. Janet and Malcolm Jamieson, our referees, will try wherever possible to free up courts for club use during the day but this is weather and tournament entry size dependant. Please contact Jill - jillstiel@gmail.com or text 07909631777 - to check out availability of courts for members during the week.

Ladies, Men's & Mixed nights will run as normal although there may be matches still being played on some courts so please be aware of this.
Visitor's Fees
Reminder re our visitor fees which are £5 per adult and £2 per junior, with a maximum of visits 3 per year as a guest.
Some of out local clubs charge £20 visitor fee so we are very competitive but do expect all guest visits to be paid for.
Envelopes for fees are next to the mailbox by the clubhouse door. Please use them!

Club Open Day
Despite the dreadful weather forecast on Sunday, (most of which didn't actually materialise), the club's 2nd Open Day was well attended. Visitors of all ages had a lot of fun on the courts, and we recruited many new members. Please look out for them and help them integrate into the Club and play lots of tennis.

Barney Smith Plays at Wimbledon - with Andy Murray!
Many of you will know Barney Smith, son of members Kim and Andrew Smith. Barney got through to the 2nd round of the Junior tournament this year and also played in the Boys Doubles competition. It is fantastic that a Junior from our club has developed his tennis career to play at Wimbledon. Barney has spent much of the last year in Spain at an academy and is clearly showing the benefit! He is now good enough to win a match at Wimbledon and hit with Andy Murray as you will see in the picture on the website:http://www.gmltc.com/gallery/4380-barney_smith_at_wimbledon
Well done Barney!
100 mile bike ride
Julian Webber, long time club member (35 years!) who plays regularly in Stephen Peake's weekday morning tennis, will be cycling again this year in the Prudential Ride London 100 mile event on 30th July in support of MIND the mental health charity.

"I chose this charity on two counts;
1) In memory of a friend who suffered from this illness and who tragically lost his life only a year ago.

2) Because I felt the need to do something (however small) to try and arrest the growing trend of loss of life through suicide (most often linked to mental illness)

For example did you know: (UK statistics)
- Almost 1 in 4 children and young people show some evidence of mental ill health (including anxiety and depression)
- Suicide is the most common cause of death for boys aged between 5-19 years, and the second most common for girls of this age.

To support me and this great charity just click on the link below.
Many thanks, Julian"

Table Tennis at GM
Last year we entered a team in Division Three of the Chiltern League. While it is fair to say we did not win many matches those who did play enjoyed it! I hope we can put another team in this year. So if you are interested in playing on a Thursday night home at the club please let Richard Higham know (email highamrt@hotmail.co.uk
The season starts in October and runs through to March. The cost per game is £4.00 but you will also need to join the ETTA which will cost you £12.00 Great for keeping that hand and eye co-ordination sharp.
