Good Luck everyone!
Acrylic Courts - Update
The development of Court 16 & 17 to turn them into acrylic hard courts (like our blue ones) should be complete soon. The contractor needs a spell of dry weather to finish off the top coats. Hopefully this will come in the next week or so and they will be ready for play.
Talking of blue acrylic courts, Colin has pressure washed Courts 8, 9 and 10 so the winter gunk and grime has been blasted away and they look, and play, as new. We have also replaced the knackered acrylic water squeegy sweepers with new ones. These should help clear standing water off after rain.
Neil's Note
Just when the grass courts were open for play we have had torrential rain. Darn it!. A quick update on the club's financial position following a review I did with Dian our bookkeeper and the Commitee this week. After 8 months of our Finanical Year to the end of September we are in an ok position financially. Our member income to the end of May was £92k and other income £11k. We are forecasting to be around £97k and £25k by the end of September, a total of £135k. This is £13k down on our Business Plan Target primarily due to the number of members who did not renew in April and non-member income being down. However, we are forecasting that our operating costs will come in roughly £6k under plan at £58k so this offsets some of the income drop. Our cash in the bank remains healthy at £116k and after paying for Court 17 & 18 we expect our reserves to be aroudn £80k at financial year end. This is a slight increase on the plan as Court 17 & 18 has not cost as much as we expected. There will not be sufficient funds to do Court 8 clay surface development until next spring / summer. We will continue to push for more member recruitment so please encourage friends and neighbours to join!

The non-member income from the bar, coffee and cakes, Junior BBQ's, member clubhouse boookings for parties and the summer party are really important sources of additional income. Please support the club at the bar, buying your coffee and cakes, hot dogs, booking the clubhouse for your party and coming to our event on 23rd June! All profits are ploughed back into the club for the members!

Here comes the sun... Neil
New Treasurer
Jason Kwan has stepped down from the Committee after fours of service to the members. Jason has made a great contribution to the club looking after tennis activities, encouraging new members to play and contributing to the Committee with great energy and enthusiasm. He steps down from his current Treasurer role to focus his time on his business interests, and enjoy his tennis! Many thanks Jason!

Martin Quigley has agreed to take on the Treasurer role so we we welcome Martin to the Committee and thank him for (sort of) volunteering!
MENS NIGHT (TUESDAY NIGHT TENNIS)
Men’s Night continues throughout the summer and winter on Tuesdays from 1800 onwards. All standards very welcome. Roll-up, play, mix in, repeat! The bar is open from 1930 if you get thirsty and food, kindly and expertly cooked by Howard, is normally also available from about 2015 hrs (unless rain is forecast). Come along, join in, support your club and have some fun.
EASY LIKE SUNDAY MORNING
“Easy Like” runs every Sunday morning from 9-11 and is open to players of all standards. Get out of your scratcher, get out of your household chores and get yourself along any Sunday morning! Exuberant tennis with plenty of “commentary” tends to be the format – an opportunity to blow away the cobwebs after perhaps a late Saturday evening. It’s a mix-in (we don’t do fixed 4s) so just turn up any time between 9 and 11 and you’ll be made to feel very welcome. Occasional post-tennis trips to the Deep Mill Diner can also occur randomly.

Come and join us!

Contact us today if you are interested in joining our beautiful club.
