AGM Report
AGM January 23rd 2018
The AGM was held on Tuesday 23rd January at the club. Members can access the presentation used and other documents on the website via this link https://gmltc.clubbuzz.co.uk/members/agm_january_23rd__2018_

The agenda covered a "Thank You" to the many volunteers who have helped run and support the club over the past year. Mary Bartlett talked through the Treasurer's Report and reported that our financials are in good shape ending the financial year in September 2017 with £114k in the bank. Reports were received from Men's, Ladies, Junior, Coaching and Social Responsibility (charity giving) perspectives. The full Ladies Report can be viewed via the link above. The Business Plan is proceeding to plan and we are ahead of membership recruitment targets but still with much work to do to get to 600 members.

The main discussion topic was on the Resolution that requested approval for £32k of additional funding to complete court 17 & 18 (acrylic) and court 8 (artificial clay) resurfacing. It also asked if members wanted to accelerate resurfacing of Court 8 to this year in addition to doing Court 17 & 18. The additional funds were approved as was acceleration of Court 8 resurfacing. However, the acceleration of court 8 work to this autumn is on the condition that club reserves did not drop below £25k at any point between October 2018 and March 2019 due to court 8 work. Given the likely operational income and outgoings during this 6 month period it is doubtful that there will be sufficient reserves to fund court 8 this year and stay above £25k reserves. Members should therefore expect court 17 & 18 resurfacing to acrylic to be completed this year and court 8 to artificial clay in 2019. If we have a good upswing in member income over the summer then the Committee will reconsider doing court 8 later this year, if there is no risk of dipping below £25k reserves.

Thanks to all the members who attended and expressed their views on how best to improve the club!
Neil's Note
Hello all, January seems to have flown by in a blur! Daffs will soon pop up and it will be spring before we know it. I was talking to Craig and Colin this week about their work over the winter. They are targeting our first Open Day to open the grass courts - Saturday May 12th. This is weather dependent of course but they hope to have them in better shape than last year after much spiking, treating and cutting over the autumn and winter. In the next few weeks they will also be putting in a new gravel path around the back of the grass courts by the storage containers so there is better access to Court 6 (the top grass court) and Court 14.

The AGM went well as you can see from the section in this Newsletter. It was good to hear member's views on a variety of topics and the Committee took away some actions on parents and mini's practice sessions, parent coaching while little ones are having a session, direct debit provision and buddying with new members. One good suggestion was to publicise our Facebook page so please see the section on that in this Newsletter and follow / like / post frequently! Many thanks to the members who came along to the AGM.

Talking of things flying by... Kate and I are off for a couple of months tour of New Zealand and Australia so my next Neil's Note will be in April. I hope you have the opportunity to get on court soon and spring comes quickly! Please contact one of the Committee in my absence if you need any help.
