Summer Time Club Nights are Back!
Summer time is here, and so are all our club nights, which start at 6pm and continue as long as there are willing players!
Ladies Night is back on Monday Nights and is going well! Everyone welcome and Tom Smith, CT Coach, is coming down every other week to give tips and mix us all up.
Mixed Night is on Thursday Nights from 6pm. Come and join us!
Men’s Night (TNT) has reverted back to Tuesday Nights from 6pm. Lots of activity as usual!
Junior Nights are getting going on Fridays from 5pm.

Friday Night (Junior Night) Court Usage
We have a long tradition of Friday evenings being the designated Junior Club Night.  Chris Benson, our Junior Coordinator, has arranged for Challenge Tennis to organise Junior play from 5pm to 6pm. There will be a BBQ serving from 6 pm and the bar will be open.  Parents and adult members are encouraged to come down and join in the social side!

There has been a growing number of adults interested in playing on a Friday late afternoon and early evening then joining in the social side. We have plenty of courts during dry weather so to accommodate everyone's needs the following allocation will start this week:
  • Juniors will have priority over courts 1 to 13 (the 3 clay by the clubhouse, the acrylics, grass and the middle 3 tarmacs) from 4pm during dry weather.
  • If the grass and acrylic courts are wet Juniors will also have priority over Court 14 and 15
  • Court 14 and 15 will be available for adult turn up and play during dry weather
  • There will be organised adults mixed doubles sessions on Courts 16, 17 and 18 (the top three tarmacs) between 4.30pm and 7.30pm. If you are interested in this let Jason know.
The Committee will keep an eye on Friday night court usage and assess how this allocation works in serving the primary interests of Junior Night while also building the social side for all members and allowing some adult play. In keeping with the long tradition of the Club to have Friday evenings as the designated Juniors Club Night we will have the Challenge Tennis organised play from 5-6 pm and the BBQ starting at 6 pm. We wish to remind everyone that Juniors have priority over all courts except 14-18 when conditions are dry and on all but 16-18 if wet (16-18 being used for the Club's organised adults mixed doubles sessions).

Good news foodie lovers - Howard Stockdale is back to cook suppers on a Tuesday and Thursday evening during the summer!  Starting next Tuesday, 10th May, Howard will be ready with a Bobotie Curry for Men's Night (some of the men will remember this one from days gone past - a Malay curry popular in Cape Town) and then on Mixed Night, 12th May with a delicious concoction yet to be decided.  No need to book in - when you come in from playing he will be ready!  Men's Night Summer Suppers will be £7 for one course and Mixed Night will be £10 for two courses.  Tuesday Night Pie Night tradition will also continue once a month (usually last Tuesday of each month) with chefs Jill and Kate.

New Website
Have you visited the new www.gmltc.com yet? You will soon have your own individual login so that you can access the members’ area and – if you have paid your subs – you should receive an email with your login details in the first week of May. If you don't receive it by next week, please contact Stuart Jones stuart@jonescasa.com

Visitors
Members are welcome to bring visitors, to a maximum of 3 times for  any one person. A visitor fee of  £5 (adult) or  £2 (junior) is due.
Please use the green post box by clubhouse door and write on the envelope who is the member and who is the guest.

Acrylic Court Maintenance
We are expecting the acrylics to be cleaned very soon in preparation for repair and re-surfacing with new acrylic paint when we have an extended period of warm and dry weather.  The timing is subject to the weather so please don't be surprised if the courts are out of actions for some days this month.

Our GMLTC hoodies are available for all members, ideal for chilly mornings and long
evenings at the bar after summer social tennis. Black or navy, £25 Adult, £20 Junior sizes.
Different sized samples are available to try, please
contact Mary Bartlett mary@amershamcomputers.com

Gateway School comes to GMLTC!
Part of our club growth plan is to forge close relationships with local schools.  We have agreed with Gateway School for them to use our courts for PE and After School Club sessions during the summer term. The PE lessons will use the middle three courts between 2pm and 3.15pm three times a week. The After School Club will use primarily the top three courts, or the middle three courts when Challenge Tennis are not coaching, between 4pm and 5pm three times a week. Each of these sessions will have 16 children.

This will bring in additional income to the club and give us a boost in meeting contractual "participation" commitments with the LTA and Sport England. It will also introduce Gateway children to our club and the school will support our intent to sign up some of these children and their parents and siblings as members. If you see a mini-bus in the top car park and smartly sport dressed children enjoying the courts then they will be from Gateway.

Booking Challenge Tennis sessions

All Challenge Tennis adult and junior cards and term coaching sessions are now booked and paid online via the Challenge Tennis website at: https://www.challenge-tennis.com/product-category/bookings/gmltc/ .  Note that the website prices shown are for non-members.
