New "Mini Zone" and Supporting Mini's
We now have 49 Mini-Junior members (U8's) and are keen to provide facilities and encouragement for the youngest members of the club. We will be painting some mini-court lines on Court 16 and have moved mini-nets there to make a new "mini zone". We have relaxed our rules for parents who are are social or weekday members, or not members, so they can have a hit with their 8 and under children (only!) to suit the family schedule. They can also use other green tarmac courts if not being used for coaching or by other members. Adult playing member parents can of course choose which court they use for hitting with their mini Junior members subject to club court priorities and non-marking shoes being worn on the blue hard courts.

The top clubhouse now has three buckets with a supply of mini-red (8 and under), mini-orange (9 to 10) and mini-green (10+) balls for juniors to borrow. Please help yourselves to the age appropriate balls - they make the game much more enjoyable for the young ones as they are easier to get back (and for parents...!). Please put them back in the buckets when finished for others to use. There are also some useful guides to each of the mini stages on the wall in the top clubhouse
Wear the right shoes
Please wear non-marking tennis shoes when playing on the newly surfaced blue acrylic courts to protect the surface. Thanks!
Junior Camps
The club was visited by lots of keen young tennis players this week who all had a great time at the Summer Camp. Expect to see lots of youngsters over the summer holidays!
Junior Club Tournament Update
Apologies to Junior members and their parents who have been waiting to hear about the draw for the Junior Club tournament. We have some entries but not enough and have been slow to communicate what's going on. As family holidays are now upon us and we need more entries, we are going to run the Junior tournament in September leading up to Finals Day on 17th September.
Ross and James will now drive this for us and will communicate with junior members and their parents the format, draw and timings.
Farewell and Thanks
Farewell to our Groundsman Ian, who has been made an offer to go full time elsewhere with a package we sadly cannot match.
He finishes at the start of September, but will support us through the autumn grass preparation. We are indebted to his dedication and expertise; he typically starts work on our grass courts at 5 a.m. every day in the summer.
We are on the hunt to recruit a replacement and would be grateful for any suggestions from members

Wednesday/Thursday parking
The club will be busy on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons this coming week for two wake's that are being held in the clubhouse, so parking may be limited.

Ride for Alzheimers

Just a quick note to thank you for your support and encouragement for my participation in the 100 mile Prudential Ride London event that I completed on Sunday 31st July. Over 550 of the 27,000 cyclists taking part were riding for Alzheimer's and so far Those on the ride, through your support, have raised over £300,000 and there is a lot more to come.

My fund raising is still open, so please visit my webpage (below) to read a summary of my day’s ride, to make a donation and to find out more about dementia.
Many thanks
Julian
