**Junior Finals Day Change (except mini-reds)**
We have had quite a number of requests for more time to play the junior competition rounds before the planned Finals Day this Saturday. As the purpose of the competition is to encourage competitive play we will move the Junior Finals for all age groups, expect mini reds, to Saturday October 15th. The mini red tournament will still go ahead this Saturday17th as planned. The free BBQ and Ice Cream Bar from 5pm will still go ahead this Saturday so feel free to come down and watch the Adult Finals and mini-red tournament and join in the end of season social. We will repeat the free BBQ and Ice Cream Bar on Junior Finals Day on Saturday October 15th. Clearly we will learn some lessons from this years' Junior Tournament organisation!

***BBQ and ICE CREAM - on the house***
Enjoy an end of summer celebration following the finals, of BBQ and ice cream. The bar will be open all afternoon, and tea, coffee and scrummy cakes will be on sale throughout. Come and enjoy the tennis, the food and good friends.

****Shiny Trophies****
These will be presented to our deserving GMLTC Champs at the end of play - if you won one last year please remember to get it back down to the clubhouse beforehand, bright and gleaming for our new champions! (Bring it with you, or get it to a committee member if you aren't planning to be there.)
Junior Night
Junior Night has picked up again after the holidays and Ross has had many questions about when it will be finishing. We will extend Junior Night to just before half term, to include Friday 21st October, and see if there is demand at that time to continue beyond half term into November. Ross will continue his Junior Night coaching / hitting session for junior members aged 5+ between 5pm and 6pm and courts will be prioritised for Junior use. The floodlit schedule will include 3 courts for Junior use between 5pm and 7pm on Fridays. We are happy for the BBQ to continue through this time but we need volunteers from Junior parents to be BBQ chef! Volunteers to Jason Kwan please (ligjasonk@gmail.com).
Court 16 Mini Zone / Hitting Wall Area
The mini orange and mini-red lines have now been painted on Court 16 and are ready for play. The mini Orange court uses the main net which should be lowered to 80cm. There is a mini red net on the court that should be used across the back of the court like the photo opposite. The mini red service boxes extend to the white singles court side lines! Don't forget there are mini red (<8), mini orange (8 to 9) and mini green (10+) balls to borrow in the top clubhouse (door code c3407z). These make the game much easier to hit then the usual yellow balls and hence enjoyable for these junior age groups.

The Hitting Wall area is has now been re-surfaced. We are waiting for the tarmac to cure before painting and adding mini-red court lines. This is planned for end of October if the weather is warm enough for painting then. More on this later.

GM Men - winners take all!
The GM Mens 1st team win the Premier League!
Looking at the photo you can clearly see how this dedicated, focused and particularly smartly turned out team did it!
Well done GM players and coaches!
Baseline Fix
The baselines on courts 1 to 3 are now scheduled to be replaced on Monday Oct 3rd. It may take a couple of days to complete, so please be aware.
Winter Mixed Dubs League
This league, an ever popular feature of the winter season, will start again at the beginning of October and new players are very welcome to join. For those of you new to the club I encourage you to give it a go as it is an excellent way of meeting, and playing against, lots of different people. Sometimes referred to as the Floodlit (or even Moonlit) league, the format is designed so that the match plus knock up can be completed in a 1 hour session under the floodlights, although many people choose to play in the daytime at weekends. Each match comprises 11 games & all games count, so scores can be anything from 11-0 to 6-5. There are 5 or 6 pairs in a league and at the end of each 6 week session the 2 pairs with the most games move up to the league above and the 2 with the fewest games move down. We usually aim to fit four 6-week sessions in between October and March, though sometimes the weather gets the better of us. New pairs join at the bottom and work their way up (or not as the case may be!)
If you are interested in joining, please contact Frances Rawle (francesrawle@btinternet.com) by 20th October. It is easier if you have a partner already, but if you don't please get in touch anyway as I may be able to put you in touch with other players looking for a partner.
Thank You Tournament
Each year, the Committee holds a Thank You Tournament in recognition of all the work that so many of our members volunteers to help make the club the success that it is. Partners are also invited, so it is quite a big tournament! It will be taking place on 2nd October, so be prepared for a lot of courts being in use that afternoon!
There are a large number of people involved in running the club, keeping the grounds looking good, organising the kitchen and bar, running tennis teams, our BBQ chefs, social event organisers, tennis organisers, captains, people dealing with the finances, membership, advertising, the Committee and so very many more.

If you already help out, thank you. If you think you might have even a small amount of free time to give back to the club, please get in touch with any of the Committee members who will be able to direct you towards something of interest. If volunteering is not something you either wish or are able to do, please take the opportunity when you meet any of our many volunteers, to say thank you to them for being part of making GMLTC a place we all enjoy.

Come and join us!

Contact us today if you are interested in joining our beautiful club.
